Ustad Akhtar Nawaz Khan

Ustad Akhtar Nawaz Khan is a veteran vocalist and dignified teacher of Kirana Gharana. He is nephew and first disciple of the late Padamshree Ustad Shakoor Khan. He is highly regarded for his flawless rendition of Indian classical music that transports you in the world of ecstasy. His notable students include his son Amjad Ali Khan, Shobhana Rao and Chandan Das. He is based in Delhi.

 

 

Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan

Considered as the encyclopaedia of Indian classical music, Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan has compiled one of the largest repertoires of rare bandishes. He is given the title Bandish Nawaz by The Salt Lake Cultural Association. He is the son and disciple of the late Padamshree Ustad Shakoor Khan and has accomplished the status of living legend in the music world. He has been bestowed by many awards and recognitions including the very prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship by President of India. His notable students include his nephews Amjad Ali Khan and Arshad Ali Khan, Sandip Bhattarcharjee, the late Shanti Sharma, and the American composer and pianist Michael Harrison. He is also currently training his daughter Shahana Ali Khan. Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan is currently based in Kolkata.

Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan

Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan is highly respected by the music world for his deep, reflective and impeccable performances and his exhaustive knowledge of Indian classical music. He is the son and disciple of Padamshree Ustad Shakoor Khan. He has performed in major music festivals of India and is a maestro who has trained many talented singers. His notable students include his nephews Amjad Ali Khan and Arshad Ali Khan, Sandip Bhattarcharjee, Salma Agha, Roop Kumar Rathod and Sonali Rathod. He currently resides in Mumbai.

Amjad Ali Khan

Recipient of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi National Award and Surmani, Amjad Ali Khan has earned the reputation of the torch bearer of the gharana. He received his taalim from the maestros of Kirana Gharana: his father Ustad Akhtar Nawaz Khan, and his maternal uncles Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan and Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan. He gave his first performance on a prestigious stage at the age of 11 in an event commemorating Padamshree Ustad Shakoor Khan, which received huge appreciation from the maestros of the music world. Since then, he has performed world over in several prestigious music festivals and live concerts. In 2015, he enthralled the audience of 25,000 in Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav with his impeccable performance in a melodious reverberating voice; the crowd cheering “Once more…”, a rare sight in the mahotsav. Arshad Ali Khan

Youngest scholar of ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Arshad Ali Khan is a child prodigy who has lived up to his initial promise. In the year 1993, at the age of 9, he was described as the biggest sensation of the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Samelan, following his performance at the invitation of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi on the occasion of his 75th birthday. He received his taalim from his maternal uncles Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan and Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan. He is emerging as a leading vocalist of Kirana Gharana across all nations worldwide. Today his performances are acclaimed across continents of Europe, America, Asia and Africa. He is the recipient of many awards including the Jadubhatta Purashkar, Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, Sur Jyotsna National Award, etc. Presently he resides in Kolkata.
